This  is how an evacuation is done, Nagin & Blanco

Denizens, as you know, Houston's expecting Hurricane Rita here in a couple days or so.

As I write this, Drudge has this link posted atop his site.

Right above the link is this picture:

Memo to Kathy Blanco and Ray Nagin:  Note that middle lane, bud.  That  is what you were supposed to be doing prior to Katrina hitting.  Mobilizing big yellow things like the ones in that center lane right there.  Not  trying to figure out a way to blame it on Bush when you failed.

Get a clue, Kathy & Ray.

Hell Yeah!!

Pull your heads out of your respective butts and take a look at how people with an IQ higher than room temperature handle things when a storm is bearing down on'em.

Obviously Texans have a clue as usual...

How does Rove do it? Now he's going to steer this one in to DeLay's district to take the heat off him......genius

In South Texas, I-37 is specially equipped for hurricane evacuation. It officially has two lanes north and south, but there is a third lane that normally is part of the very wide shoulder; it serves as an evacuation lane for when fleeing hurricanes. The lane surface is intermittently marked with the familiar hurricane symbol.

Is it just me...or does that back school bus - the one in the forefront of the photo - appear to be...empty?

Posted by: Jarrod at September 22, 2005 09:16 AM

I don't see any people in that last school bus. Yeah, that's the way to do it.

Posted by: Mike at September 22, 2005 09:17 AM

What are those big yellow things? Do we have them in most localities? I thought they just were for keeping traffic down to a slow rate in the mornings and afternoons.

By the way, can we send our citizens that were on public assistance (before the hurricane that Bush caused to hit us) to other cities to continue receiving their public assistance there?

Posted by: Ray Nagin at September 22, 2005 09:38 AM

Well, then, I guess we should just put it back in the bus barn and let it get flooded, right?.  Yeah, let'm rot there, just the way Nagin did. :-/

I guess the buses would have worked if Brown hadn't told them NOT to use them because they lacked air conditioning and if i recall correctly, similar photos were posted for Katrina...but, hey nobody really cares about the poor now do they?

With the last few months of nightmare scenarios in international politics. The blunders and dudners of a few of our federal agencies and policies. There were some dark moments where it was hard to be a proud American. But in the shadow of Katrina and the approach of Rita. It's a Damn FINE time to be a Texan!!

Brown?  That the name of the Houston mayor, Patricia?  Do you have a link, by chance?

Posted by: Lord Spatula I, King & Tyrant at September 22, 2005 01:21 PM

Oh my gosh - no air conditioning - horrors! Uhh, I wonder how they use them for the school kids - moron. "Oh I'm sorry, you'll have to drown because I don't want ot make you suffer on the same buses your kids ride". Even if they didn't have A/C (which I doubt). - ever hear of putting the windows down? Bottom line - Democrats can't be trusted in a crisis - because they're always looking for somebody else to take care of them.

Oh, yeah, you guys are geniuses... those busses are going to be so very safe parked on the interstate with the rest of the traffic jam when the storm hits...

The moral is that it's damn hard to evacuate an entire city, be it half a million or two million in population. Put aside your sneering attitude about New Orleans and wait until the storm hits and see how many people are still stuck over there, how many poor people weren't able to find any of those school busses, etc. It's wayyy too early to be snotty.

At the very least, they're on the road and rolling, which is still  more than your hero Ray Baby is capable of saying.  These  buses are being utilized, as opposed to sitting in a bus lot and being flooded out...aren't  they?

The moral is that it's damn hard to evacuate an entire city, be it half a million or two million in population.

No, the moral is that Bill White is at least trying to use the resources he has at hand, instead of whining for Greyhound to send him something.

Put aside your sneering attitude about New Orleans and wait until the storm hits and see how many people are still stuck over there, how many poor people weren't able to find any of those school busses, etc.

A lot fewer per capita than those who couldn't have gotten to the buses in N'awlins even if they had tried, I'd say.

It's wayyy too early to be snotty.

Not with a moron like you, it isn't.

It's alot easier when the (selected) pResident is helping you (Texas with privileged whites) than when thwarted (Loiusiana with poor minorities)!

Awwwwww, whassa matter, widdle fuckhead?  Is hims still mad that Bush has still  never trailed in Florida?  Having a little trouble with the fact that he got more votes in 2004 than any other presidential candidate, ever???

Awwwwwwww, po' widdle babyyyyyy... (snicker)

is helping you (Texas with privileged whites) than when thwarted (Loiusiana with poor minorities)!

Well, when your heroes Nagin & Blanco don't have any more intelligence than you do, it's not surprising that Lousiana's effort amounted to a train wreck.

Sucks to be you, doesn't it? (chortle)

Looks like Brad wins today's "Stuck On Stupid" award!

According to Brad, there's no minorities in Texas!

He's obviously another fine product of our "Publk Skuul Sistum"
