US awards contract to Northrup; Boeing throws hissy
Item: The US Air Force just awarded a refueling tanker contract to a consortium between Northrup-Gruman and Airbus.
Item: Boeing and the city of Seattle aren't taking it too well. Washington governette-by-judicial-fiat bimboid Chrissie Gregoire is threatening a protest, and it wouldn't surprise me if she tried to file a lawsuit, as well.
Reaction: That's the liberal/union mentality for you: A sense of entitlement just because...well, because they're union.
2nd reaction: Bet they're sorry they found those 700 votes in King County now, aren't they?

I don't know about the entitlement thing. It is my understanding that the Airbus offering is superior to the Boeing one. I suspect that Boeing got just a little too comfortable.
The other question I have is what will Grumman do if EADS were to fold because of international tensions? Remember, EADS is a multinational consortium of three countries who historically don't get along.

I don't work for Boeing, but I question the wisdom of sending a defense contract to foreign companies.
