Jeb Bush:  Governor Back-Down

Sean Gleeson at Diary of an Oklahoma Artist reports that Jeb Bush may have grown a spine, after all.

Sort of.

According to this story from Knight-Ridder (not all that credible a source - yes, I know, but still...), Jeb had a team of state police on their way to pick Terri up.

Hours after a judge ordered that Terri Schiavo wasn't to be removed from her hospice, a team of Florida law enforcement agents were en route to seize her and have her feeding tube reinserted - but they stopped short when local police told them they would enforce the judge's order, The Miami Herald has learned.

Agents of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement told police in Pinellas Park, the small town where Schiavo lies at Hospice Woodside, that they were on the way to take her to a hospital to resume her feeding.

For a brief period, local police, who have officers around the hospice to keep protesters out, prepared for what sources called a showdown.

In the end, the state agents and the Department of Children and Families backed down, apparently concerned about confronting local police outside the hospice.

"We told them that unless they had the judge with them when they came, they were not going to get in," said a source with the local police.

So, in essence, the Florida State Police were stared down by a bunch of Pinellas Park Podunk Pigs™.

Oh, that'll  look good on the résumé, guys.

That tells me two things:

1) Jeb really doesn't  have the balls to be governor - and, since his widdle brother Shrub didn't do a damned thing about it, neither does he have the balls to be President.

2) It also tells me that Jefferson's Tree of Liberty is a helluva lot drier than even I thought, and watering time is not far off.

I haven't seen anything about this from any of the other news sources. It seems to me this kind of confontation would be a big deal.
This could be like a good many other things in this case much ado about nothing . Then again the state might not be too enthusiastic about the whole world knowing they were snookered by the local yokels.

Good thing Jeb will be term-limited out of running for Guv again.

Wouldn't ya like to see the name Schindler on the ballot?

Not really sure what difference it'd make now.  Jeb's already committed political suicide, IMO, just for not completely following through on his boast that he had the authority, Greer or no Greer.

Love to.  But it'd be problematic at best; it's my guess that the Bush machine down there would go after him in that case.

(Can you tell I've lost faith in anyone named Bush?)

This incident doesn't really matter anyway. The procedures outlined in Florida law were not followed. See my post for what he SHOULD have done.
