New Diet Coke™ with Splenda©...

Not only no, but Hell, No!!!™

I bought one today - took one sip, damned near threw it up.

Memo to Coke:  Splenda© is sweeter, ounce for ounce, than sugar. (Yes, I know that's hard to believe, but trust me on this.)  If you people are going to use it in your diet drinks, you absolutely must  raise the carbonation factor by a minimum of 3.

Otherwise, you have Diet New Coke™ on your hands - and we all know how well the regular  version of that went over, now don't we...?

TOO TRUE!! I had the exact same reaction and came to the exact same conclusion after drinking that swill. It took everything I had to finish the bottle, and I only did so because it was the only stuff I had to drink. It was HORRIBLE!

I'd almost swear they're using the same proportions of Splenda as they use of regular sugar. YUCK!!

So you know how much not  to use for my dessert at Brew Naunfels. :-)

Every drink that has Splenda has too much of it.

But Aspartame still tops the Suck-O-Meter.

Amen, Alan. I've been getting frustrated because my favorite chewing gum started using aspartame in its formula and I can taste it. I can't find a gum out there that doesn't have the nasty stuff in it and it drives me up a wall. Aspartame turns into FORMALDEHYDE and FORMIC ACID--the acid fire ants sting you with!--in the bloodstream! Why the HELL it's still avaliable to dieters mystifies me. Even saccharine isn't as bad as aspartame. (Though I can't stand either of them in the long run, thankyouver'muchly...)

As for YOU, Spats...I'm still trying to figure out how to switch things around so I can make a Kahlua Chess Pie using no sugar, but damn if I'm not coming up blanks! Does Splenda make a brown sugar substitute?! And it's so fluffy and light, it melts down to virtually nothing when added to liquid. I might have to go with another recipe entirely, 'cause this is beginning to get expensive! But if I come up with that no-sugar version, I'll crow about it to ya! :-)

D, Sugar Twin makes a brown sugar substitute; have you looked into that?

Iced tea with saccharine works well for me as far as non-sugary drinks go. I control the dosage, it's safe as long as I don't consume the dosages (500+ packets a day) used in those fraudulent tests from way back when. (note to the CDC: FREAKIN' OVERDOSE CAUSES CANCER, YOU MORONS!) Bigelow™ Plantation Mint Tea is good stuff.

As for sodas, Coke with sugar is tops.

Oops, wrong agency. That note needs to go out to the FDA.

I'm sure there are a few unrelated ClueBats of Doom that need to come the CDC's way, but those are issues for another day.

Spats--thanks for the heads-up, I'll have to check it out as the Big Day gets closer! :-)

Alan--Sorry, saccharine still sucks to me. The flavor is so cloying and chemical it turns my stomach inside-out before I even have a chance to swallow. I'd rather drink my tea unsweetened if there's no Splenda avaliable!
